1's, 2's and 3's on the back of Lo-Pro saddles

What do the little markings on the back of the lo-pro saddles mean?

What are the differences between the saddles? My guess is height or size of the little 'u' where the strings leave the saddle.

At least they tell me the saddles are not interchangable, right? I had the idea that the high e was way too high, could it's saddle be in the wrong place?

lay them all in a row on a flat board, and see if they're all the same height or not.

i think the marks are just kind of a factory working code or something like. as i know, they're all the same height.

The base under the saddles is stepped for form a radius for the saddles, so they would all be the same I'm guessing.

Ok then, let me ask it this way:

Where do they belong? On my floyd they were like

E A D G B E
3 2 2 3 1 1

But it doesn't really make sense and the trem felt wrong anyway.

I don't now, man, I took apart an Edge and an OFR and I don't see any numbers. The OFR trem has a flat base, for sure. This is an old one circa 1984. I can see the saddles are of differing heights. The Edge on the other hand, has a curved base so i don't see why the saddles would need to be of different sizes or heights. This is also a mid to late 80's Edge.

More than likely it's just a casting mold #. Means nothing as they're all the same size.

On a standard floyd (and this is only some manufacturers... not all, so there's not any real "standard..."), which has 3 pairs of different height saddles, the orientation should be:

1 2 3 3 2 1
e b g D A E

This allows for the proper radius to follow the curvature of the neck. You can always shim them if you need to get more height or a different arc, but if they're on the guitar they came with it's usually not necessary.

Also note -- a standard floyd has a radius coming in somewhere in the neighborhood of 10" to 12" -- nowhere near as flat as any Edge bridge. So you might wanna check to be sure somebody didn't slap the wrong saddles into your bridge.
