6 string and 7 string RG bodies same size??

Hi all,
Can anyone tell me if the body size for a 7-string RG body is the same overall size as a 6 string equivalent, or is the 7-string wider?
I realise there will be differences in the neck pocket, bridge position, pickup position etc, but I'm asking if the OVERALL dimensions are the same? Eg, the total length, the total width, the shape of the horns.
This isn't why I'm asking BUT...for instance, with modifications, could you attach a 7-string neck to a 6-string body?
Also, anyone know where I could get a blueprint or a plan for an RG (or v.similar) body shape?
Greatly appreciate any help!
DJ

Have since found some info here:
http://www.jemsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2319

but would still appreciate anything helpful!

Re: 6 string and 7 string RG bodies same size??

I have a 550 and a 7620 body at home; I'll lay one on the other when I get home and check for you on the size. Since the routes down the middle are centered (pickup cavities, trem cutouts, neck pocket) you would need to expand all the routes on both sides and top and bottom, not just make them wider on one side.

Anyway, I'll let you know tonight if they are the same size. As has been stated, they very likely are identical, as that would cut the cost of body blanks for Ibanez (by not requiring any new wood, just a different CNC route).

Go to this link and scroll down to the very bottom where you'll find JEM blueprints.

No, they are wider. About 1 string wider in fact.

yes but you'd have to fill and redrill the screw holes in the body, and route the neck pocket wider and route the pickup and bridge routes wider too of course.

From Projectguitar
Ibanez Rg 6 To 7 String Conversion, A quickie project:
http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/in...howtopic=27107

From the thread:
"The screw holes in the 7-string neck I bought even line up with the holes on the 6-string body."

Doesn't really seem worth it as you'd also have to replace almost every piece of hardware on the guitar while you were at it. Probably cheaper, and a lot less hassle to source a used Ibanez 7 String and modify it to do whatever you need it to do?

Excellent info here people, I thank you all!
Esp. useful to see the two guitars actually placed on each other, that pretty much confirms it then eh??
(Nice socks btw Alan!)

Not according to the thread here:
http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/in...howtopic=27107
About halfway down the first page he says:
"The screw holes in the 7-string neck I bought even line up with the holes on the 6-string body.", but maybe that was just due to the exact combination of parts he'd sourced, I dunno!
