7-string pickups

I have a 7620 and I am looking for something that is not as muddy when distorted as the stock DiMarzio pickups. I would try out a uv to see how I like the blaze pickups but the only way I can get close to one is by ordering it. I'm looking to change both neck and bridge pickups. Thanks.

Thanks for the offer but I have already promised them to a friend. I'm just trying to find out which pickups sound clear when distorted.

Sounds good, thats one of the combos I was looking at when I was at the Dimarzio site. Anyone else have anything to add. Also since I'm on the subject is Dimarzio putting out any new 7-string pickups this year? *

7-string pickups

Noodles,

I was looking for exactly the same thing - I popped a Blaze II in my RG-7620 and in my RG-2027 and I'm happy with both of them.

The sound of the 7620 is MUCH improved, and the notes ring clearly even at high gain thru a 5150 head. *The 2027 isn't so much different sounding from the stock pickups, but the Blaze II has a little more "oomph" to it.

I have an UV777BK. *I didn't really like the blazes so I replaced the bridge pickup with the Evolution 7. *I like it sooooo much better. *Plus now I don't have to re-eq my amp when I go from my Jem to my UV.

Ok, I posted three mp3s to the jemsite FTP area.

http://www.jemsite.com/upload/files/jibboomsolo.mp3

http://www.jemsite.com/upload/files/dontremembah.mp3

and

http://www.jemsite.com/upload/files/valley.mp3

The first one is sort of a joke solo over the jibboom backing track, 1.1megs. The second is from some Marty Friedman song, don't remember which one, off Scenes anyways, it demonstrates the clean sounds of the Blaze neck pickup, about 500k. The last one is from Marty's Valley Of Eternity, it has both Tone Zone 7 and Blaze going. Also 500k. The amp used is a Marshall VS100 combo, no effects.
