apparently the only way to get a new jem neck is send Ibanez you're BROKEN one in exchange for a new one.

Life would be better if it were easier.......

No, it's not broken. And of course you'll pay for it even if it's shattered into 20 pieces. Unless it's a warranty issue don't expect any company to provide free parts to cover a customers mishaps.

Funny, I actually bought a JEM FP neck from the Ibanez dealer in Ottawa in 1991 or 1992. It took them 6 months to get the thing in and cost me 500 Canadian, but they got it, although I had no JEM at that point...

The "rules" were much more relaxed back then. F&N [England] would sell you any neck you wanted. They imported necks alone just to sell necks. Each distributor played by their own rules until Hoshino finally put the locks on them. There are a couple left you can sly a neck from though

I cant be sure, but Tom Lee, in Hong Kong, did have a spare RG550 neck on a rack for sale (HK$1500, US$187) - they may be able to bend the rules a slight bit.

I doubt Tom Lee deals internationally. It was a maple wizard neck, if im not mistaken. Unfortuantely, the last time i saw it was a couple of months ago - it has dissapeared ever since.

How come Ibanez clamped down on stray neck sales? I dont really see how it's necessarily a bad thing that people buy their necks, so I was just curious. Something in particular happen that made them realize they didn't want their necks being sold everywhere?
