about paint


i am getting an air brush, are air brushes just used for detail or can they be used to brush the whole guitar body ?
if no what do i use to paint the body

An airbrush would take a loooooong time.

http://www.alsacorp.com/killercans.htm makes 2 part urethane paint in spraycans.

The above company has the spray paint that the PAINT YOUR OWN GUITAR books use.

The above links are kind of pricey, but probably worth it if you don't have spray equipment and are only going to paint 1 or 2 guitars.

and what are the steps to to get my old guitar refinished?
read a few tutorials
they go like this
remove neck
strip down the guitar
sand very well
primer
let primer dry
spray base coat background, ? With what type of paint an oil based paint ?
use air brush to detail
use a clear coat ? what clear coat tho?
than buff ? how do i buff

i assume that is how i refinish a gutiar

I tried and used paint and primer that i found in the automotive section of a store in town, then I found polyurethane clear coat in the section with all the spraypaints. Then i didnt have anything to buff, but im sure you can use the ones that you buff cars with. But i either suck at painting or you should get some really fine sandpaper (like 1200) and sand it down after you put on the coats of the main color. My paint job might also appear to be a bit rough cause i didnt buff it after.

nah you forgot to sand it down iam sure after clear coating, do you recommend i start with a squire strat ? XD cause iam thinking of upgrading it to something better or is the wood used on it pathetic >?
