Acrylic 2k (Auto/car paint) on a guitar?
Can I use canned automotive paint to spray a guitar? I plan on doing a blue/black spray job, which will be done as simply as possible.
Sand down to bare wood, primer, then colour/color and finally LOTS of lacquer?
I've already researched projectguitar.com, but just need to know if I can use this paint without killing the guitar tonally or practically...
TIA
Michael

I sprayed an old Fender I had with Color Coat Car Paint and it looked, and sounded, just fine.
Hell, I think it sounded BETTER after I used that paint on it.

No problem . . .
Just remember not to spray in a closed area . . . I did mine in my basement and 14 years later I can still feel the effects of breathing that stuff in . . . so stoned . . . so dizzy . . . look at all the pretty colors floating around the little fairies flying around!

There's no need to sand down to bare wood even. Just get the current finish roughed up pretty good(maybe by some Italian guys).
