allen key holder on back of headstock?
Does puting an allen key holder on back of headstock increases the chance of wood splitting or altering the guitar in any way?
The allen key holder is the little thing you screw into the back of your headstock and it 'holds the allen keys'.

I've never had any problems with one. Im sure you could glue it on if you were really worried about it...

There was another thread about this recently...
I have a couple that stick onto the back of the headstock with two-sided-tape, thus eliminating all doubt about screwing up your headstock.
My BFP is a '91 and has one on there - I don't know when it was put on, but it's still hanging tight.
It's called a 'Trem Tool' and it was about $4.95

There's a local shop here called Murphy's Music that has them.

Re: allen key holder on back of headstock?
i have a few guitars with the allparts one screwed in. that one holds all 4
allen wrenches
. much better than the one where the
allen wrench
is a "T" type tool. That ones tends to fall out, and you only have 2 allen wrenches. i usually will cut the screws shorter, or just use shorter screws. no problems at all. the holes from the tuning pegs and locking nut are much bigger, so i wouldn't worry about 2 tiny screws. but, if you can double-sided tape it, all the better.
www.allparts.com
if you wanna check it out. but i don't know if they deliver to australia. :-).

Dont fret it man, Just drill some small pilot holes using the holes in the tool holder as a template. The screws dont have to push so much wood aside to sink up thus will not crack. Common woodworking tech. But good question anyway. Double sided tape will work but I couldnt stand to see the empty screw holes and gap between the wood and metal, just me. akjc1977

Yeah I've got a couple on guitars screwed in and they have been fine for some time now. As others have said, drill a pilot hole and then screw in the screw carefully.
