Alternate Tunings - 6 string strung like a 7

I'm wanting to string one of my 6 strings with the bottom 6 of a 7 string set. My question is, what gauge will I want to use to elliminate major adjustments?

Alternate Tunings

IMO the fact that you are “de-tuning” (or whatever they call it now-days) will counter balance the fact that you are using heavier gauge strings. *It should remain real close to the same tension as the normal 6-string setup.

Others have more experience than I do with things like this. *That’s just my thought on it.

Alternate Tunings

I played 6 string tuned A-A for about the last 5 or 6 years. I used these guages (had to order custom sets):

From high to low:

14-18-22P-36-48-62.

Hope this helps.

Alternate Tunings

Jeffery,
I was thinking of using;

11-16-24P-32-42-52
B * *G * D * *A * E * B

Would you think that would work without dinking to much with the set up?

Alternate Tunings

I did that for a while and my bottom (top?) 2 strings were a .46 and a .52
I had to add a fourth spring on the trem and muck with it quite a bit.
