Amazing results on tuning estability Thanks Rich.

Finally my 10th is playable !!
After the pup replacements, the only problem was this tuning inestability...
I had not put the trem bar in it for ages, as it was useles to attempt any whammy tricks....
But....I came across the tech section on Rich´s site...
After going thru the whole process, It was obvious that my problem was the flat knife edges as the trem posts had been replaced recently with the new grooved ones. After following the filing instructions....Voila! I have a playable guitar again! I dont know if its 96, 98 or 99% but it sounds PERFECT to me.
The reason I wanted to share this was not only to express my gratitude, but also to let everyone know about a section we might be overlooking...
As far as I can see this is a VERY common problem, where at least half of my Ibanez have/ had it. I will be putting the JS thru it today as I'm sure it has the same prob.
This is not a difficult mod. If u are familiar with taking the trem off, you will have no problem at all.
I hope my recent experience gets someone "whammming" happily again..

Thanks for sharing Rich...Ever thought of recording a vid? Or scared that we see your ugly mug??

Very curious that a 96' would have this problem at all, but I'm glad it was of help to you!!

Damn!

The same procedure has had no effect whatsoever on a js90th!

btw, I'm sending the js to a very good luthier( seen his work) to straighten the back bow. I also wanted him to "radius" ( not sure if this the right word) the neck to achieve low-low action. Because of the size of the frets he needs to refret it. I'm up for it ,but what is your opinion ?
I want it to play perfect....

I don't see any logical reason why he'd have to refret it to radius the frets. I do know that if the neck doesn't adjust perfect there's no point, you'll never get the action low enough no matter what's done to the frets.

well..he tells me that you need to put in bigger frets in order to file them enough to get them radiused as the js has small frets....
I dont know, but he tells me that he will send it to me before I pay him and if its not perfect I wont need to pay....
I saw an RG he did and it was amazing....
I have faith in the guy, and I would love the js to be the ultimate player
We shall see....

I've never heard the need to do this, plenty of meat on a JS fret, unless you've already worn them all away

I wouldn't have it refretted, thern again if it's in backbow it's not being used anyway.
