An important question

I had a big c--o--c--k--roach (damn cencorship, lol) in my room before, and I hate those little bitches. I tried to kill it, but I couldn't find it at some point, so I needed to spray all over the room with something that should kill it.

My guitars (two electrics and a classic) are in there! And I can't get in! Would it do some kind of damage to them? To the wood, the strings, the pickups, something? And I mean besides a horrible smell for six months or so (how can I get rid of the smell btw)?

I don't know anything about the spray you used, but I would never leave my guitars in a room with roach stray for even 6 seconds, much less 6 months. Dude, you should have gently placed the guitars in thier cases and removed them from the room before it was sprayed.

The guitars aren't going to be there for six months, i'm just talking about the smell which will probably be on the guitars for six months...
i know, i wish i would have thought it through. i'll see what i can do in the morning (it's 11:00pm here), i can't get in there right now.

if anyone knows about damages, please tell me

Re: An important question

I've played guitar for 14 years, and worked pest control for four years(not currently.) Unfortunatly, I don't think there are many chemicals labeled for use on guitars. Your best bet would be to get the guitars outta there right now! Before the roaches get in them and use them for shelter. Find large garbage bags, and seal the guitars in them. You may want to double bag them. Move them to a safe location. That way the roaches don't get out or reinfest. To be extra safe, I would call a pest control tech and have him use an aerosol chemical sprayed directly in the garbage bags. If you poke holes in the bag, get a new one or re-bag. The roaches won't like that stuff and will try to run. Talk to a tech in your area, if you just have him do the guitars you may be able to slide him a few bucks, if you talk to him right(these guys are usually pretty cool!) Ask to read the label on the chemical, to make sure it wont damage the guitars. It probably wont but all chemicals are different, and they are YOUR guitars!

If it is a BIG roach, Probably not too much to worry about. Unless you see a lot of em. It's the little ones that are a pain to get rid of.

It's not "roaches", it's a roach... i saw it coming in through the window. we had the whole house sprayed a while ago, and it's still supposed to work, so there are no "inside" roaches here...
about an hour after i wrote my post i decided to go in and to take my guitars out. nothing happened... the strings didn't even catch the smell. only the straps (and it could be psycological) got a little smell, and i don't really worry about that. thanks anyway!
