Ok guys, so I've got a (hopefully) relatively simple
trem swap question.
Here goes:
So I had a Baritone-7 built by Warmoth several years back. I bought the parts, installed most of the electronics myself etc, and had a local guitar tech just like do the assembly of the neck and body, put the trem on etc...
Anyways, I've got a lisenced FR on there, and pretty much since about a year after I got the guitar I've had an impossible time keeping the strings in the saddles. Now, I've sat down with several guitar techs and had the saddles swapped with OFR saddles, but it's the same thing. If I even think about using my trem more than just slightly at least one of my strings will pop out of the saddles. Because of this, I've had to put the guitar down for a while so as not to rip my hair out or beat my guitar in a fit of rage.
I think it should be worth noting that I normally use Elixer strings, though I switched to non-coated strings and the problem persisted. I've also tried down-tuning to relieve some of the string tension and hopefully keep them in the saddles better, nope. Same thing with a lighter gauge. I even had a guy put an OFR in for about a week to see if I noticed any difference, still no dice.
Anyways, the point being this: I'm really considering putting in an Edge Pro, mostly because I won't have to cut the ends off the strings, and because I've heard from a few friends and fellow players that they've had really good luck with them as compared to FRs. So, which trem would you guys recommend and which mods will I have to (if at all) do to make one of these trems fit? I've read about the 6-string Edge Pros and some of the mods you'll have to do, but does the same carry-over for 7-string trems as well?
*wipes forehead* whew... that was a bit much. Well, hopefully you guys can help me make something from this condundrum and I'll include specs/pics of the beauty shortly in the future as I have no camera and my guitar is back home for now
Any and all responses are greatly appreciated!
