Any guitar builders?

Hello again Jemsite! *It must have been months since I last stepped foot in this place, and I regret it, anyway, I have a question...
The next semester of school is fast approaching, and I have woodwork. *Since I'm so blastedly poor, I was going to build a classical acoustic. *Sure, it probably won't work that well but I still wanna. *Anyway! *I was wondering if anyone had any advice, or book titles to dig my nose into before I begin. *Anything would be much appreciated! Thnx.

* Joel

Never attempted an acoustic, so I can't be much help.

The guy you may wanna' speak to is Jeremy (Littlegreenman) he just recently completed one I believe, although not a classical.

Also get yourself over here http://www.frets.com/FRETSPages/pagelist.html#Luthier

Hey Joel, I'm in Canada too, so if you have that unlimited in Canada long distance, feel free to give me a call. *Just email me and I'll give you my number. *I can say one thing about building an acoustic, it was more work than I was expecting. *The difference between a nylon string and steel string are minimal, probably the biggest being the bracing in the top and the lack of a truss rod in a nylon string. *The part you'll have the most difficulty with is bending the sides, you can do it all by hand with a side bender (round shaped iron that you use lots of water with) or in a side forming press. *I all my thicknessing by hand which took forever, if you have access to a thickness sander, I suggest using that. *Anyway, feel free to email me and give me a call if you want, I'll answer all the questions I can for you! *

Jeremy

Well, no, actually I don't have that, I don' know what we have, but that isn't it.
Anyway, I am completely aware of how much work this is going to take, and am ready for a 2 to 3 year job of it. *I just needed some suggested books for like the bending of sides, and all that complex crap. *But whatever, Jeremy, if you wanna start an e-mail war, I'm game.

I do not have any experience in making acoustic guitars.
Don't know if it will be of any help, but check out the musical instrument makers forum: http://www.mimf.com/

I'm more into electric guitars

Good luck with the upcoming project !
