Because his name is Keith, and this thread is the only relevant thing Google lists when you search for Stepmax, outside their main site.

What exactly are you basing the fact a lot of guitar players like it on? Unless you work for the company, you probably don't know the sales numbers, this is the only place other than its actual website that it is mentioned, and you can't exactly base it on the testimonials.

I am assuming all the testimonials on their website are not from everybody who as a Stepmax. You can only have so many or it would get boring reading them all.

Testimonials are pretty much meaningless, since there is no frame of reference as to how truly knowledgeable a person truly is. If those are the best 7 they have, it is pretty unimpressive. Several of the people demonstrate a lack of knowledge about where the tuning stability issues come from on a Stratocaster (primarily the nut,
string trees
and tuners), several of the people are displaying knowledge they don't have (I highly doubt any of them have the knowledge and experience to determine metal quality and durability from a visual inspection, because those relates to things on a microscopic level, which even if you can see them, won't mean anything if you don't understand what you are seeing), and most of them seem a little too impressed by the fact Stepmax can put the screw holes in the same place (it is intended as a direct replacement).

Kinell! man what are you smokin, microscopic level, metal quality, durability, they are building an ehfin tremolo, not a space shuttle. I am not to sure what you mean by the Stepmax can put the screw holes in the same place. You have stated the obvious though, string trees, nut, tuners, are all a problem with a tremolo on board, we all know that. I think that the reason the Stepmax is great there is no damage done to the guitar during installation (Strat type) and it installed for me in about 1/2 an hour and I now have a double acting Tremolo. Tunes the old way, intonates the old way, and convenient string changes the old way. Not Gods gift to the Tremolo market admitted, but certainly an improvement to some of the others out there.

Keith, I'm taking you out of this thread because it's your company. I think it would have been honest of you to say so up front as well.
Please feel free to post elsewhere.

Re: Anyone tried the "StepMax" trem ?
Just to point out you back pedaled on answering my question by pointing out things you already pointed out before.
You said that a lot of guitar players like them, and I asked what you based it on. I merely pointed out the quality of the testimonials was low, there are certain criteria involved in selecting good testimonials and their testimonials don't match those, that generally indicates they either put every testimonial they had up or that they had a very small number of them (which contradicts using them as a basis for saying that a lot of people use them).

I meant this as "Please feel free to post elsewhere on our forums", it wasn't meant to come off as "hit the bricks". Sorry if there was any confusion about that.

I guess I would put that on a Strat that I really hated. What an eye sore.
