Anyone tried this? Trem block idea...
Hey guys!
Here's the deal... i recently got an RG7620. I really want to be able to use the trem on it. This typically wouldn't be a big deal, but my band has been playing around with some stuff in drop A lately, and during practice, we hop around between standard and drop A quite a lot. Needless to say, a Floyd doesn't cope too well with that. I'd be retuning for pretty much all of practice. I've got the trem blocked right now, but i have an idea...
Here's my idea: make a block that fits absolutely perfectly behind the tremelo block in the back of the guitar. Then, remove the tremelo spring cover from the back of the guitar, and cut off the last 1.5 or so inches of it, so that now even when i have the spring cover on the guitar, i can see the tremelo block and everything. Whenever i want to switch to drop A, i simply slide the block in. When i go back to standard and want to use the trem, i just pop the block out. Would this cause any problems at all?

Read the website.
It can lock your trem cold, or set up a dive only trem, or freefloat when unlocked. there is a whole thread on it
here
, hope this help explain things.

Re: Anyone tried this? Trem block idea...
on some older kramer USA's they used a devise similar
it could be set for dive only or floating but did not lock the trem completely like the tremno will.
i use my trem for dives only and all i did was use a piece of hard ash to make a connection to the
trem block
when it is in the not use postion,
i tighten the springs to pull the trem block against the wood piece and it works great.

Sounds about right... just remember to tune back up to B and lock the nut before taking out the block...
