Arizona/Phoenix - guitar repair/mod shops

I may be relocating to the Phoenix area if I get a certain job I'm trying for. Does anyone know of a good place to get setups, and modifications done?

I don't trust myself, and I've always trusted a local shop near me to do it.

I've been here for about 2 years and let me assure you there are tons of good guitar shops here. Once you arrive you will want to spend a couple of days just cruising around checking them all out. I just had my Universe set up out in Mesa and the guy did a great job. E-mail me if you need more info.

Cool man, thanks. That's reassuring, because I hate switching techs. I've used the same guy for 7 years.

I've had good results with the repair guys at Milano Music in Mesa. They don't sell Ibanez guitars, but otherwise they're good people.

I've also gone to Beck's Guitar Repair in Tempe. His attitude may put off some people at first, but he's actually a very nice guy, with a great sense of humor, and did he did great work for me.

(as you'll see in the link below, his web guy is not the world's best speller)

There's a place in Mesa, near Fiesta Mall, that's in the same plaza at Tower Records on Southern Avenue. I believe it's called "Musician's Discount" ??? *Not sure about the name. I haven't had any work done by them, but I've bought some accessories in there before and they also seemed like "good people." *

cool man thanks!! That Rich guy looks pretty respectable. He should be more than adequate for a good setup here and there.

I don't know much about Rich Beck, but after reading his site he looks very respectable and knowledgeable. *I have had my guitars setup, pickups replaced, etc at Milano Music in Mesa, and the guy there (Perry) does a very good job at a reasonable price. *They do carry Ibanez', so he does know how to work on Jems. *He's worked on mine a few times.

Hey, I didn't know Milano was carrying Ibanez's now! *That's great news, when did they start?? *It's been a little while since I went in there, but the last time I did they were a heavy Gibson/Fender dealer. Their tech guys worked on one of my JEMS once and did a great job, so I'd recommend them without hesitation, but I sure didn't know they were carrying Ibanez guitars! Whoohooo!

Milano Music is my favorite music store since I moved out of the southeast and lost touch with Jay's Music Center in August Georgia.

Bill,

They are carrying some Ibanez, but only around 10 or so different models. *The nicest one I saw was the 2020 with the piezo. *But I know they can order Ibanez stuff for sure. *Not sure when they started carrying them though.

If you are looking for a great place to have your guitar setup in the phoenix area try Precision Guitar, they are an exclusive guitar repair and restoration business. *Other than that Bronson Guitarworks, formerly associated with Boogie music in scottsdale, does amazing work also the owner, john, is a really nice guy. *
