armholder-trouble (jem555)

aye
im the owner of a jem555 and ive had some trouble with my vibarm.
so, i asked at my local store and they gave me a new holder and said that the holder was the problem. here i am with a new holder, and i cant get the old one out. i unscrewed the nut but the old holder is stuck. it looks like it slips right in and out, but its stuck hard. is it glued?
i appreciate any help

what 555 have you got?
the old model (TRS trem) or the new model (Edge Pro II trem)?

It's probably just a tight fit, like the Schallers and the FR originals. Give it a good tapping from behind with a hammer and it should work it's way out. There's no glue.

Re: armholder-trouble (jem555)

I'm having similar trouble with an Edge original holder. I've tried using an impact wrench and a hammer, but it did not work. I suspect that the holder has welded to the guitar, and I don't have a clue what to do about it. Does anyone have any information or experience they can share to help me? Thanks in advance.

Even if you break the old holder it doesnt matter if its no good, just give it a good smack and it should come out, had this on my OFR.

I tried a lot of things; penetrator (Liquid Wrench), paint remover, etc. and eventually drilled it out. It's possible that the trem has been permenantly damaged, perhaps this sticking thing has something to do with why I got this trem for 80 bucks.

Re: armholder-trouble (jem555)

Did you get the 555 secondhand? If so the previous owner might have used some sought of glue/varnish to keep the trem arm in place. This is what i had to do when i had a 555 because the trem arm was always so loose so i used nail varnish to keep the arm in place and running smoothly. Then again it was an absolute bugger to take out when it was time to sell.. all i can remember doing was using these industrial sized tweezers and ripping the **** out of it till it gave in
