Automotive plastic dye and pyramid inlays

Would a plastic dye work for changing the inlay colors? I'm assuming that the inlays are some kind of clear plastic, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Well,
From what I know (correct me if I'm wrong too) most Pyramids are coloured paper/card under clear plastic (bar models such as the JEMPBK, UV7PWH and UV777BK which I think are MOP)
If you want to recolour the inlays then you will probably have to remove the plastic top shielding and recolour the paper/card, but removing the plastic is not an easy task and will probably result in some damage.

If you want to re-do the inlays professionally and in different colours then i'd seriously suggest you have a word with Jeremy www.lgm-guitars.com
(His site is down at the mo' and moved to a different url but I'm not sure what that url is, plenty others on here will know I'm sure)
He is the guru.

Steve

ripl3y, you are right. LGM is THE man to talk to about inlays/inlay materials. There is a lot more than meets the eye to due a good job. I learned from Jeremy (and others) it is best to remove the frets, do the inlay work, radius the neck and refret. I was planning on doing it myself at one point, but after weighing the time and effort to the cost to have LGM do it.....well, I'll just say he is almost done with my project

OOPS!!! MODS, PLEASE DELETE!!!!

thanks for the kind words guess, the site is not on a different URL right now, it's just down, just waiting to hear from Patrick that his host is all fixed up or whatever at this point hehehe.

at any rate, the neon pyramids are paper under plastic, wanna change the color, you need to change the whole inlay, it's not as simple as redying the plastic.
