Bad springs?
I just started playing the guitar again after a couple of years of neglect.
Anyways my problem is that when I play an oen note & then pick a note on any other string, like in the first bar of Cliffs of dover, my tremolo unit moves & I'm unable to bend to the exact note. Or if I'm doing 2 note bends even then the tremolo rises & the notes become flat.
I've an RG520, should I replace the springs on the tremolo or there is something else which is wrong?

Re: Bad springs?
What they mean is that you have to have it so that the trem no longer floats and moves around, which will almost negate the reason for having a trem. You should be able to get something installed like a Tremol-no, and be able to lock and unlock it, when needed. Not certain, as I don't personally have one, but there are those, here that do. Maybe they will chime in.

Re: Bad springs?
A Tremsetter really messes with how the trem system responds. At least with the Tremol-no, you can unlock it, when needed. You can even set it for dive-only, too, which is a plus for the drop-D players.

Re: Bad springs?
Saw the Tremol-no but at £51.37 it is kind of expensive. I'm getting the springs changed on wednesday, hopefully that will solve the problem. else will try & get the Tremol-no.

Re: Bad springs?
Good luck, but I will be quite surprised if a spring change helps ANY of that. You have to understand, it's the nature of the trem, not really the springs. When you do a bend like that, you are increasing the
string tension
, which throws the balance the other way, pulling the trem toward the headstock, thus dropping the tuning on the other strings. If this is a problem for you, spend the money, get the Tremol-no. That or fully block the trem, but then that defeats the whole purpose of the trem.
