Baritone body wood question

I'm thinking of having a Strat-style baritone guitar made by Warmoth, and I'm wondering how alder would sound on a baritone guitar. Would it be too bright, or should I go with mohogany? I'd like a balanced kind of sound, not too bright and not too muddy. I'm planning on using a SD-JB pickup in the bridge, if that helps.

yea..

Yamaha uses Alder on their's and they feel extremely heavy, but sound pretty good. All the guys I've talked to who were playing them at shows had their custom built with mahogany and also used some production models. The one's I've seen Ibanez build have all been Mahogany and the bands playing them don't use distortion all the time and I have to say they sound amazing. I'm having a mahogany one custom built inthe near future as well.
