bent fret

Few weeks before
Frank Gambale came to Hong Kong to have a guitar clinic
He talked about the new idea of bending the 1st and 2nd fret on his Yamaha guitar(is that call "waved fret")?

He said that he showed that to Steve Vai also
as we can see
FLO is having waved fret now

do you think Ibanez will introduce this concept to their production guitars?

probably not. *

1. *It's an added expense. *Companies hate added expenses.

2. *Most people do NOT use a Feiten-type mod on their guitars and would be uncomfortable playing one.

3. *It's kinda hard to do. *If you use a non-linear path for the fret, you have to find a way to tell a luthier or a machine to do that. *Of course it can be done but it would be a pretty big undertaking to satisfy the whim of one artist who is notoriously fleeting in his affection for gadgets. *(big monkey grip lasted for 2 models, Maple fretboards replaced by rosewood, then ebony, neons ignored for years)

 Yes Steve seems to like gadgets! By the way... why does one bend his guitar's frets?

The loop fret is at www.earvana.com , they also have a cheaper alternative to the Feiten system, since 90% of the Feiten improvement comes from moving the nut. *Last time I asked, they were still working on a locking Earvana nut for Floyd-trem equipped guitars (patent problems). *

yuza, go to www.buzzfeiten.com for a brief description of why you would do that, also read the Buzz Feiten interview at www.virtualguitarmagazine.com , also search the net for Feiten, also search the previous posts here at jemsite for "Do it your self Buzz Feiten mod", and hold your breath, you are about to get in way over your head.
:read:

I hope you studied your physics. *The truth is out there.

If there was just some way to attatch a tiny whammy bar to each fret so that you could wave each fret on the fly.........Why a waving fret? Just to say hello I guess. *My frets just sort of smile, no waving. But I have done the compensated nuts, and the nut mod with great success. Sawright Pepe le fret? Sawright.
