Best Trem Posts

I had put up a post a while back about my building my own guitar. I've just got myself a good condition second hand Gotoh Floyd Rose licenced trem from that auction site for $70AUS.

The only thing it's missing is the trem posts as the seller could not get them out of the guitar body.

What do you find are the best trem posts to use. Do Gotoh make seperate trem posts. The trem is chrome too.

Re: Best Trem Posts

Shed light - yes! Those trem posts aren't easy to get out of the body, but it should have been done and all sold together.

I have been looking at Gotoh/Wilkinson and various other bridges on the Warmoth website. Maybe you could order your inserts, bushings, receivers (they have many names) there. If not, post a message again. I'll dig up another supplier. Let us know if you're successful too.

All the best. SMD

Re: Best Trem Posts

Try www.universaljems.com . They sell the Gotoh trems, so they could probably get the studs for you.

Re: Best Trem Posts

So it would probably be best to use the Gotoh trem posts. I can order them here in AUS through a music store a friend works at. I don't mind buy the posts seperately if they're not too expensive. It's good to know they will definitely stay in place!

I forgot to mention, the guy I got the Gotoh from on the 'bay couldn't remove them because whoever fit them glued them in!

Anyway got the trem on Friday arvo, looks great. Love the trem arm holder design - best of both worlds there. Have got prices on matching locking nut and trem posts, and all up the price has come out pretty nice. Will have got a Gotoh Floyd Rose and nut plus the trem posts and two screws to attach the spring claw for AU$150.

Re: Best Trem Posts

I ordered a brand new Gotoh licensed floyd from Internet Music Supply and it is one hell of an nice trem! Very smooth and great sustain! You wouldn't be disappointed... except... well... i order the trem with a trem block that was too long and so the back sticks out of my S520EX.. but oh well, its prob coz of that it sustains better than my old Edge.

I'm using my old Edge post holders with the new gotoh posts, works just as well, apparently, the 2 post holders are interchangable. However, the gotoh post has deeper grooves and they are cut in a narrower angle, i think i read up in Rich's webby that it is better that way.

Anyway, you can check up with www.allpartsjapan.com too if universaljems don't sell the posts... or Internet Music Supply.

Cheerio!

I think I mentioned on another thread that this site doesn't seem to talk about any online auctions, so I had to say that I got really beautiful, brand new FR receivers with posts from a cyberspace place called wildberryskittles for only US $14.99 and if that's too weird for you, they are located at a simple email address info@wildberrycastle.com. It will give you an idea of retail price for premium quality, hard-to-find parts no matter where you buy. SMD

Re: Best Trem Posts

Will Floyd Rose trem posts fit in the sockets of an RG7420 which at the moment has the awful LO TRS II on?

stewmac has floyd posts but I would call Rich and get the Edge locking posts and inserts. Just an opinion.

Not sure, as I haven't tried swapping them yet, but at the moment I'm ruinning an OFR7 on the trem posts from the LoPro Edge that came with the guitar. Eventually I would like to swap them out, I think, but I haven't needed to yet.
