[b]Gotoh/Wilkinson VS100 trem: your opinions[/b]

I am thinking of using the Gotoh VS100 tremolo system on my new DIY guitar and I am wondering is it possible to route the body for the trem so it can be pulled up as well as down? Also, tell me your opinions about this type of tremolo compared to "similar" EBMM system.
