Blocked Tremolo

If there's one thing I've made it a point to stay away from, it's a Floyd Rose/Edge/Tremolo system in general. However, in terms of good guitars, this limits alot of my options. So, I was considering just blocking the tremolo, either with a piece of wood or just a Tremol-no.

This is probably a stupid question but I still feel the need to ask it. If I do have a blocked tremolo and I change tunings, do I still have to worry about intonation?

The answer is most likely yes, but just want to be safe before I do anything stupid.

Re: Blocked Tremolo

well the bridge wonīt change its angle if itīs blocked and you change the tuning, and unless you tune veery low you shouldīt have intonation problems

Re: Blocked Tremolo

I plan on keeping the next guitar in either D standard or putting it in D with a low C, so if I end up doing a show and need to change between the two I wouldn't wanna be caught in a situation where instead of just changing tunings, I have to mess with the intonation and everything

Re: Blocked Tremolo

I'm not in the hunt for a high end guitar... but I also noticed that "simple" options like dual humbuckers, no tremolo guitars are rather slim. At least in the Ibanez line up.

I suppose I don't play good enough, but I also find the tremolos more of a hassle and a bit tone sucking. Oh well, I suppose different strokes for different folks.

I was looking for a low end guitar with 25.5" scale, dual HB's, fixed bridge, and a fast neck and to my surprise, Yamaha doesn't offer any and Ibanez only one.... with Tremolo. So I ended up buying a GRX20 with the trem neutered... which I will replace with a RG321 whenever I can.
