Bore Oil (where to get it?)

its been about 4 months since i got my new guitar, js1000bp from rich at ibanezrules. ive changed the strings a few times, and cleaned the fretboard with each change, but i haven't used any type of fretboard conditioner yet. i've read its good to apply some type of conditioner, preferably bore oil to your fretboard 2-3 times per year.

im going to the music store tomorrow, probably guitarcenter, to get new strings, and i want to get bore oil. i've heard good things about it from rich, and i like how it darkens the fretboard. the darker fretboard looks cool with the black pearl finish.

i know i can order bore oil at musicians friend, but it doesnt seem very logical to pay shipping and wait a week for a 2.99 bottle of oil, especially when im going to the store to get new strings.

do they sell bore oil at guitar center? does anybody know any common stores or types of stores that sell this? is it commonly found at music stores?

if all else fails i'll end up ordering it from musicians friend, but i just thought i'd ask here first to see what stores it can be purchased at.

thanks

Re: Bore Oil (where to get it?)

bore oil you will find at a few places

Higher End wood working stores like Rockler woodworking
Music Stores that sell woodwind instruments/band instruments
Gun Stores sometimes will carry it as well.

If you want the best oil you can get -- see here.

I bought some of this Fret Doctor stuff a while back and it's the best I've used. You need to order it through PayPal. Read the web page. It explains exactly how different oils affect the wood. Fret Doctor rules.

Andy, get yourself some Fret Doctor. If you can wait a week or so for the delivery, it's worthwhile. You will need to add another $3 for shipping to the UK, otherwise Ed (the guy who makes it) will email you and politely ask for it later. He's a good guy, nice to chat to via email.

thank you.

im not sure of any of these places nearby. if i can't find any at guitarcenter, i think im just going to order it from musicians friend instead of searching around. ill get a few bottles to make it worth the price of shipping.

Re: Bore Oil (where to get it?)

Brook Mays and H&H music sale it, I'm guessing their other named stores would have it too. http://www.brookmays.com/stores/

I bought some from either AMS or Musicans Friend. Leblanc Bor-Seal / Bor - Oil. I've been using it on my guitars for a few months now and it works good. A little goes a long way. I bought two small bottles and they will probably last me 10 years. Stuff is cheap too.
