bridge question?

has anyone tried the wilkinson vs100g bridge, im thinking of replacing my lo-pro with something that won't go down in pitch as much with alternative tunings and unison bends. are they any good and do they stay in tune more importantly?

the reason i want to replace a brand new lo-pro, is because i dont like the fact that it has to be in the same tuning all the time, i have recently got into more alternative tunings and regularly like to tune to e flat as well. the problem is of course the strings going out of tune with the lo-pro as you tune differently, plus the fact that there is the locking nut. i have thought about getting locking tuners and doing away with the nut, but alternative tunings would still be a pain as the trem would still move. is the wilkinson a good remedy or do i need to go with something more like the two point trem on the higher end strats, then replace my tuners with locking ones. i just need something that will cope with alternative tunings as well as some upbends and divebombs. thanx

ps. "get another guitar without the lo-pro on", is not what i want to hear!

You'll have to pull the posts, dowel them, and re-drill new ones to put a Wilkinson on a floyd guitar.. Not to mention, if you don't want it to float(same problems you're having now) you'll either have to block it or fill the entire rout cavity.

In other words, to put a strat trem or wilkinson on your guitar, you'll have to almost ruin the guitar.

Have your LoPro blocked, it's the best solution, you won't get any pull ups though.. Stable pull-ups, and alt tuning on the fly, aren't something that works well. If you want any pull up at all, you'll need to adjust things when you change tunings, that's just the nature of the beast.

If you do block it, and install locking tuners, the nut is gonna need to be replaced with something that has much less friction, like graphite or a roller nut.

I know you don't want to hear it, but changing tuning constantly needs a stop tail. Floyds(OFR, Edge) are the only trem I trust to stay in tune through real trem work, but they come at a cost, nothing's perfect.

You could try installing a trem-setter, but I dunno how much change in pitch they'll put up with.

thanx very much for the advice, i suppose im wanting something far too versatile instead of looking at what ive got! at the moment the lo-pro is blocked and i have the springs tight in the back, it actually doesnt bother me that much in regards to the trem not working just when i get the urge sometimes its a bit annoying.
