Question

Broken LPE trem stud - getting it out!

Greetings all.

My lovely '02 JCRG8570 (LPE) currently has a broken trem stud on the treble side. Basically, half the head has been broken clean off! It's a problem I've been meaning to fix for a long time, and I have a replacement stud all ready to go, save for one problem.

I can't get the broken stud out! It would appear that somehow (unbeknown to me) the set screw is stuck fast and refuses to budge when I try and loosen it using an allen wrench. Any suggestions?

Thanks all.
Nick.

Pull the bridge (obviously... =]) and take hold of the top of the stud with a set of vice-grip locking pliers or similar, and turn counter-clockwise - that should remove it cleanly...
Good luck, and be careful to avoid spinning the insert if it's locked in there too tightly.
