Building a custom RG

Hi all,

This is my first post So glad I found this site! Anyway, I'm a bit of a tinkerer and am planning on building up an RG based off of a RG321 or RGR421EXFM body (for the mahogony).

At the moment these are my plans, though I'm certainly open to any suggestions. The goal is to build a hard rock/metal oriented guitar that plays fast and is best suited for lead:

* Super Wizard neck
* Locking set of tuners - Grover? Gotoh? Would these fit without modification of the headstock?

http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tuners/G...6-in-line.html

* Dimarzio 159/158 pickups
* Custom paint job, either a transparent hunter green or a hunter green/suburst effect on top

Does anybody know if any of these parts would be incompatible, such as the spacing of the pickups? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Building a custom RG

If you have a locking nut, the locking tuners will be a waste of money. In any case, any tuners that would fit a strat, will fit the Ibanez. The DiMarzio's you have picked out are Evolutions? Not sure how they will sound in a mahogany body so you will be a trailblazer there. I do like mahogany and have a J-Custom and an RG3120 but both have the original ToneZone/PAF Pro setups. I have done dozens of custom variations on RG guitars and its loads of fun so have at it.
