Building a Paisley

Hey guys,

I my and my friend would like to embark on trying to build a Paisley copy for ourselves. I figured we could get most, if not all, of the parts from warmoth and then do the finish ourselves.

So my question is how and where would we find the pink paisley material to do the finish? I remember reading somewhere that Fender used a paisley wallpaper and adhered it to the bodies. We're trying to build a pink paisley copy not one of the blue flower patterns.

Thanks,
Ryan

Re: Building a Paisley

..... and you'd be dead right in that respect - it's a paisley wallpaper brsted out with a metallic pink solid colour at the edges, and a clear scratchplate bursted with the same pink over the front pickup cavity.

Believe it or not, your best bet is most likely to find a crusty old wallpaper shop and search through their leftovers!

Alternately, given how many people seem to part out guitars, you could short cut the whole process and try to source a body via the *Bay - also in recent issues of Guitar Player, there is some dude in the US who seems to have become the absolute master of reproducing Paisley finishes - if you can figure out who he is, drop him an email and he may be kind enough to reveal his sources........

Re: Building a Paisley

I would think you could pick one up for the same price as making one.

I would think so too.......

actually, on that point, you could probably source a Japanese Paisley Tele, retain the body and sell everything else (assuming you want customised parts etc) - you'd probably end up getting the body for nothing!
