Building a trem... - am I insanely stupid for thinking this?

How hard would it be to build a non-locking, seven string trem? *The only one I've seen so far is the one on the Ernie Ball JPM seven string, which they won't sell (I asked). *Does anyone know of another brand? Or am I better off simply building the thing myself?

Building a trem...

I know Driskill guitars build their own trems. I think it would be rediculously expensive unless you already have access to an engineering shop.
