burnt finish

couple questions:

1. How do you do the burnt finish? do you just burn the wood with a heatgun or what?
2. Anybody ever burned an RG, I've seen lots of JS's but never a RG and how did it look?
and 3. totally off the subject other than the finish part. Anyone ever tried using spray texture (used on walls and ceilings that kind of stuff) on a guitar and then finished over it? I was thinking kind of a DBK kinda look

Yea I've seen earthmans Jem77bbq or whatever he calls it before lol, I'm not quite that mad at this stupid RG yet
