Candy Apple using sprays... is it possible?

Hello all!
Does anyone know if it is possible to do a candy-apple-type finish using aerosol sprays? See, here's the deal...
In searching for a nice shade of bright metallic green aerosol to paint my guitar with, i have found no shades of green bright enough... i'm not going for, like, Loch Ness Green; I want a grassy, leafy, true jade kind of colour. If you've seen the Electric Green finish that Ford offers on some of thier vehicles { the newer Mustangs, most notably }, thats exactly what i want. So, i was wondering, could i maybe get some medium green paint and shoot that on top of, maybe, white or pearl white to acheive a lighter shade of green? I'd also like for it to be metallic... will that be possible using sprays?
Please help!
Ben

Of course you can just take your time and preperation is everything when using aerosol cans.

Also it is better to have a spare can handy since once half of the propellent is used up they tend to spit little gob's which can ruin your day.

go to an automotive paint store, they can take any color you want, and put it in an aerosol can usually, at least all the ones here can. custom colors are no problem.

NO!!!!!!!! use ONLY what they tell you is compatible, spraying automotive paints is where you use what is compatible, don't mix and match.
Two cans should be more than enough for a body.
As for cost, I would think they shouldn't cost you more than $15 a can tops.

Cool!
So, would i maybe be able to just take it to a body shop and have them spray it? I've heard that sometimes if they're shooting a car anyway, they'll clear it for you for free. That would be nice. Also, can auto-paint stores put metallic colours in aerosol cans?
Thanks Jeremy!!!

you must be part Canadian huh? LOL, coloUrs!!!

Anyway, yes, metallics can be put into aerosols, but not the HEAVY metal flake, if you want the "disco ball" style metal flake, that pretty much has to be sprayed with a big gun.

Haha, i've always spelled it like that... i just like how it looks better!
Fortunately, i'm not looking for the big metal flake stuff { although those green or silver holoflake RG570's that Ibanez put out a while back were pretty darn neat... }.
Okay, here's another question...
How many coats should i do { i've heard of the 'rule of three'... three coats for three days}?I'm assuming i'll have to sand in between coats of the paint, right? What exactly am i trying to do when i'm sanding? I mean, when do i know when to stop? And what kind of paper should i use? 600 grit?
Oh! And what do you reccomend i use to seal the body off with before i paint it?
Thanks a million!!!
Ben
