changing from 9's to 10's HELP!!!!
Can anyone help with trem angle on 7VSBL??? changed strings from 9's to 10's and as expected angle was all wrong. tried to compensate by tightening springs but the screws were pretty much all the way in already, ( they were like this when i bought it from new!! ) Tried blocking the trem etc but no luck!!! My brain hurts!!!! Thanx..

You may need to purchase another spring to give you more pull. Or you can walk your tuning in gradualy by setting all you rstrings to slack and starting very slowly and put equal turns on all the tuners and adjusting the springs as you go. Floyds are wierd you have to kinda trick them to make it work. Hope this helps.

Are there three springs in there already? If so, there's
no way
the claw should be screwed all the way in with 9s installed. Three springs should be more than adequate for 10s, too.
Something sounds not quite right.

when I switched to 10s on my ESP with 3 springs, I could bring the claw all the way in and the angle was still way off.
go with 4 springs

Well, i just put 10s on my 442R, and with a couple of turns on the
claw screws
, the bridge was back flush with the body. There's plenty of room left to screw the claw in even further, and it's only got three springs back there.

I had the same problems...just loosen up the strings, mess with the claw, and just stuff like that. Play with it, and it will eventually work.
Just always remember to RE-TUNE after any claw adjustments...it makes the biggest difference.

it all depends on what springs you've got. there are many kind of springs with many kind of tensions.
i happened to switch to 10s on many of my buddies guitars, and i always had to add a 4th spring.

Thanx very much guys for all the suggestions. I have eventually changed back to 9's for the moment until i can get to my
local guitar shop
for another spring. ( the bed springs didnt fit he he he) still a little concerned that the claw is just about all the way in with 9's. maybe weak factory springs??? guitar is only 6 months old. i guess we'll never know!!!!
many thanx

Yeah i use 9's on my 7VWH and have 3 springs on the back and the screws are right into the body, its just the way it came, a bit strange but nothing to worry about
