Changing tuning
I have a lo-pro bridge. Say i wanted to tune the whole guitar down one full step to D without changing
string guage
. Would i need to adjust the truss rod or just the
trem springs
. If done it on a guitar with an Edge III, so i know about trem angle and all, but i didn't play that guitar long enough to see if the neck ever bowed. So i'm just wondering if i need to adjust the neck or not. and if so then how?

Re: Changing tuning
It depends on the stiffness of your guitar's neck and how you like it setup. You might want more relief with it downtuned anyway. Just try it and find out. Tune it down and check the relief. If you aren't happy with the relief, tweak (back off) the
truss rod
a bit. It only takes a minute to do.

Can you or anyone else explain relief and tweaking just a little.

Re: Changing tuning
I don't think you're going to have to adjust it too much if it is already in pretty good shape.
I have a guitar in D (not drop D) and I've got 11's on it with 3 springs, and it plays great.

Re: Changing tuning
I have downtuned a couple of times and its a PITA. What I ended up doing, I had 9's on there so I switched to 10's. I currently have one guitar in drop D(it was in Drop C with 10's also) Anywho what I ended up doing was change the strings I put a 9 volt battery under the bridge, then I tuned the guitar guess what the trem angle was wrong to low I eased off the springs but to no avail but didnt hurt to try. Sooooo I released all the tension on the strings and in 1/4 incrimets brought all the strings up so I had the correct tuning and correct trem angle. I am sure there is a better way to do this but this is the way I do it. Be prepared to do this a few times as well as adjust the springs on the trem. As far as relief in the neck goes click on the INBANEZ RULES link at the top. Go to the tech section theres a wealth of info on that site. Good luck.

Re: Changing tuning
If your talkin' about your 550, you'll be ok just tuning it down and adjusting the trem angle (remove the back plate and back off the spring
claw screws
till you have the trem where you want it) I've had that guitar in several tunings with 9's with no neck problems.
