the cheapest way would be to nail a block of wood into your trem cavity, but I would suggest you buy a tremel-no

Ummmm - maybe just cutting it so that it is tight enough to wedge into place .........

Re: cheapest way to block a floyd

Cut a block of wood to fit the gap when you wedge it (wiggle the trem arm a little to help it in there). If that's too expensive, go to your garbage can and just wedge stuff in there until it's blocked (super cheap!)

Re: cheapest way to block a floyd

yeah the cheapest route would be to just stuff things under the trem until it's blocked. If you want it to be less tacky, then buying a small block of wood or trying to steal a piece of scrap from a construction yard is your best bet. The best thing you can do though is just buy a Tremol-no and get it over with.

Re: cheapest way to block a floyd

I saw an interesting blocking method recently. Someone put a screw under the tremolo where the route is in the back near the fine tuners so the bottom of the floyd rested on the head of the screw. it was screwed inot the wood so you might want to do that although it's completely covered.

I think its a stupid idea to screw anything into your guitar if you don't have too.

Re: cheapest way to block a floyd

really you think it's stupid? i know a few more "stupid" ideas that could be far worse and detrimental to a guitar than putting a small screw under the tremolo where there's a big hole anyway and you'll never see it. how 'bout cutting a big hole for a monkey grip? no offense mr. via. i actually like the monkey grip and think it's a great idea. :-) or maybe putting 2 holes for the locking nut at the absolute weakest and thinnest part of the neck, when other guitar manufacturers figured out to top mount it years ago with NO holes and no cracked necks. oh well...we all do stupid things i guess.
just havin a little fun with ya lefty... ;-)

Re: cheapest way to block a floyd

I used to use a couple stacks of pennies with tape around them so they didn't fall apart, I'm pretty sure it cost less than 25 cents to completely block in the trem....

But that one must cost like 12 pennys

The quality of the blocking job you do is usualy dependent on what your guitar is worth.
