Here's something I messed around with during the last couple of days.
A Charvel CMX-DLX, originally red, but after dragging it on concrete for a while and burning it, it turned to something else. I stained it green, and put some furniture wax on it. To my surprise, under the hellish layers of paint I found a one-piece ash(?) body. I was a bit too rough, so it has now some Mad Max sort of aesthetics...
It still has the Charvel
Floyd trem, 250k pots, and a cheapo import ibanez-stle switch. The pups are what I had laying around, a Jackson sc, some weird-o sc, and a muddy Shadow sc. The strings are .011s tuned to Eb.
What can I say, it sounds like a cheap strat! And that's what it is, the whole thing cost me $250 to do.
It is too soon to tell if it's going to get some nice pups in it someday. We'll see.
Before.
After.
