Chip in the headstock

Hey everyone,
so I was stupid enough to let my friend play my Prestige RG2570 the other day and he hit it on a music stand and put a chip in the head stock. Needless to say i was pissed. The problem is I'm worried the chip could develop into a bigger problem. Do I need to put some sealant on it to make sure it doesn't splinter or something? Any feed back will be appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: Chip in the headstock

I would not worry too much about it unless it is an actual crack, and the crack is severe. If it just looks bad, you can always try to LIGHTLY sand it with some fine grain sand paper. Be very careful not to touch the rest of the headstock. In fact I would suggest taping the untouched areas off so you do not affect the undamaged areas. Then with a small bit of sand paper; maybe just enough to cover the end of your finger start lightly sanding it smooth. You can then put a little touch up paint on the spot and go through some wet-sanding and buffing to match it up. If it is not too bad though, I would just leave it.

Thanks, it really isn't that bad, but I'll probably do something about it anyway just to be sure.

Re: Chip in the headstock

If the ding is on the black face, black nail polish will mask it pretty well. Use clear polish or superglue. if the ding is on the natural wood.
