Chrome paint on Jem10 pick ups

When i got my first jem10, i recall i was devestated by the paint damage on the pu's. When i found out they all had it, i felt a lot better and decided to let it go. Now i bought another jem10 which is damaged so badly on the PU's that i want to take off the covers of the PU's, get myself some new ones, paint those chrome and put those in (keeping the old ones for their 'originality').

Can the Evolution covers be changed? Can i get chrome covers?

What paint can i use? I remember somebody saying that the paint should not have any magnetical properties, is that true?

I'm thinking about paint for little trains, or Warhammer models...

And is there a way to protect that paint from wearing off again? Stupid question perhaps, but did anybody ever try transparent nail polish?

Dig around the link section- i think it's UniversalJems that offers chrome "bobbin toppers," basically little chrome decals that go on the top of the pickups. The're a lot more durable than paint, and much easier to replace. A lot of the guys on here have been using them...

Another option is that Jeannie Pickguards, also in the vendor section, offers pickup covers made from thin pickguard material. I've been in contact with him about mirror ones for an RG of mine. He said the material is 1/16" thick and is attached to the pickups by rubber cement. More expensive than Bobbin Toppers. But more durable I would guess.

How does that work? Toppers for humbuckers? Are they stickers? Or do they 'replace' the top-piece of plastic?

If they're stickers, than how well do they conceal the edges of the pickup (where the wear is the worst)?

Does anybody have pictures of chrome toppers for humbuckers?

They're not perfect, but they're as close to decent as you can get and for only a few bucks. The only real solution is replacement chromed EVO's, try finding those these days.

OR:
You can do as the Swedish importer did to mine when i sended the JEM10TH back for it was "humming" as i touched the chromed DP158, even when i held the strings.

They let some repairman "grind" down the bobbins, and putted on some "selfmade" polished Alumina plates on top.

I mean, they REALLY REALLY Ruined the collectors value even before I really got to play my own guitar ..

Ordered some black ones as I didnīt trust the signal strengt to be good with alumina plates on top, but the new (black) oneīs Is not THAT much stronger.

So now I own 2 EVOīs with Alumina bobbers (And Iīll keep them in a safeplace ...who knows...they might be collectable in the future ...

Canīt seem to find the right link to the Chrome stickers so please guide me!!!

Although there is a lot of good Chrome tapes to buy in local stores, so I might be able to fix it that way.... CU all Good folks here soon :P
