Cleaning a maple board with pyramids!!!

Yup, that... its natural, meaning it doesnt have clear on it... reading the explanation on the tech section, i wonder if using steel wool would damage the pyramid inlays... ?

any tips???

also, can i use tung oil on the fretboard itself? ive used tung / bore oil it on maple / rosewood necks, and i love the feel i get... but i never did any work on maple / maple...

thx

0000 steel wool will not hurt the inlays at all so no worries there. I put bore oil on my necks, and I don't see any reason why it would hurt your maple neck, but as far as the tsung oil goes not sure if you should be putting that on the fretboard?? Good luck

i wouldnt advice you to put oil on a maple board to clean it , just use small amounts of lighter fluid and sort of steel wool to clean ;then wipe it off .it works just fine for me

I didnt mean for cleaning, i meant for afterwards... you know, like when you sand/oil the back of a neck for that "prestige-like" finish... i was wondering if that works for fretboards too

Naptha(lighter fluid) or saliva/spit(not joking here). Use Tung oil on the fretboard if you want to seal it(as in leave it on and let it cure). But naptha and saliva can be used.

(btw. Saliva can clean up stuff even Naptha can't. Something I learned from Dan Erlewine)

what i have done is use straight soapy water and just rub with a little bit of that and it seems to do the trick....
