Conditioner for Rosewood fretboards.

Im just wondering what you all use to condition your rosewood fretboards?

Ive always used dr.stringfellows lemon oil, never used anything else and I was told by someone that I shouldnt use lemon oil all the time, that I should use an actual fretboard conditioner?

just wondering what u all use and your thoughts on using lemon oil.

I also recently had to sand down and refinish my neck with tungoil because I had some spots where my clearcoat was chipped off on the back of my neck, I was told you shouldnt use lemon oil on Maple, and my neck is maple..... I had some of my neck wood turning greenish... was this because of my sweat getting into the wood fibers? or could that have been from lemon oil accidentally getting on my neck from when I cleaned my fretboard with it?

I use fret doctor / bore doctor. Great stuff.

Bore oil is the best conditioner for rosewood.

DON'T use lemon oil. It's acidic and will corrode your frets after a while.

There are ton of threads here all about this. Search is your friend There was just a thread about this EXACT subject about a week ago.

I also use Fret Doctor great stuff. As for the question about the wood turning greenish, yes it was from the worn off clear coat causing exposure to your sweat and such.

Anyone in the UK, Try Manson's Fretboard coniditioner. works a treat and smells nice too.

If you can get hold of it, try the Roche Thomas Fingerboard Oil - If it's good enough for John Suhr ...

I use the Gibson Fretboard Conditioner. Works fine. Came in a 3-pack with string cleaner (gone) and Guitar Polish (have some left).

Any suggestions as an alternative to Fast Fret as a string cleaner, lubricant?

I agree with you bro!

best alternative to string cleaners is to clean strings and neck after playing your guitar and replace your strings regularly (monthly in my case).
I do not recomend to use any lubricant but, hey, it's just about my preferences

Exactly! I don't use any lubricant. That could proabbly get in the wood grain and screw with the wood eventally?? (not sure there) I just wipe down the strings after playing and change them often

And use FRET DOCTOR Dee posted the link up above

Regarding Pledge, all I would say is "Does your fretbaord look like a piece of furniture?" - I don't think so!!!

YES - stop the lemon oil totally. Like I said....it's acidic and can corrode your frets. Besides, it dries out really quickly. The fret doctor will keep your board nice and moist. And they ship immedialty. You'll have it within a day.

"ENDUST" is good for your MAPLE board, but I wouldn't use it on your rosewood. Endust is higher quality than Pledge. And therefore more expensive! As is the case with everything. You get what you pay for
