To get the exact PGM pickup and control layout, you've got a lot of wood work ahead of you. The entire control cavity, jack mounting hole, pickup cavities, volume, tone, and screw holes for the 5-way switch, and selector switch slot all should be filled. With mahogany in your case. (That's if you want to use the same body wood anyway) As far as tools go, a router is a must. A dremel is handy too. Hammer, wood glue, sanding block, not to mention all the sandpaper, exacto knife, files, access to a bandsaw, or good hand saw is a must too. It's a very ambitious project, especially for a first timer. --Jason

yeah, just live with the controls and get a set of decals. i did this to my rg7321 and it looks killer. white on black with matching pickups! it looks really good. the binding on the neck sets it off, too. while not the pgm500 i used to own, it is a smoking axe after the less than $150 mods.
