Cool neck repair with pics...

I was browsing some Parker guitar photos and came across this neck repair.

http://www.maribyredivivus.it/IT/rip...fly/parker.htm

Hopefully the site owner would not mind me posting the link here. I'm just admiring his work.

Yep, I think it's basswood so it wouldn't be too hard to snap it.

That dude is a true master. I did something along those lines with a LP I got awhile back but he did a far better job.

Basswood with a Carbon Graphite weave coating the entire back and sieds of the neck and body. Some kind of Carbon Graphite composite fingerboard with tangless stainless steel frets glued directly onto the face of the fingerboard.

Ken Parker reckons Basswood is close to perfect for neck timber, but too soft without a bit of assistance.

Cheers

Re: Cool neck repair with pics...

It looks like a good job, cosmetically, but I wonder if it will hold up over time.

The carbon reinforcement on a Parker is close to 10 times stronger than the glass-fibre prepreg this guy used to repair the neck.

It also makes you wonder what exactly happened to split the neck, but not the headstock, which appears more fragile.

Re: Cool neck repair with pics...

I once had a Gibson SG with almost that exact same break. I wish I'd had this guy around to fix it.
