Crack and tilted trem posts

A couple of years ago I noticed the trem post anchors on my UV was getting looser and I took it to a tech. He fixed it by filling the holes with epoxy (I think). Unfortunately, after a while the trem posts got tilted. And now I've noticed a crack in the body.

Is this possible to fix?

that is bad obviously, as the body is cracked at a bad spot. are the studs stable now, but just tilted? or loose & wobbly?

you'll need to see a competant tech and determine how this can be repaired. i'd probably consider drilling the body to stop the crack the fill with epoxy and possibly a fiber wrap. it's tough to say w/ just pictures but it should be fixable... if enough steps are taken and the crack is in a good spot regarding asthetics where you don't need to mask the fix. good luck... glen

OUCH !!! I'll second what Glen has just said,get a GOOD tech to have a look, I know how i would go about it, I'd seriously think about reseating the posts on fresh wood (involves routing away a fair bit,but it'll be hidden mostly y the scrathplate), i did this on my rg/jem DPV and it was as solid if not moreso than before

Ok, thanks. The studs are stable now, but obviously with that tilt the trem won't return to pitch. It's odd that it could happen to this guitar as I've never gigged with it in the 10+ years I've had it.

I'll have a tech look at it when I can afford it. Guess I'll have to put away by beloved UV7PWH until then.

If nothing helps, I'd seriously consider a replacement body as an option.

I have no idea how it happened.

As I said, it's never been gigged or really abused and is in good condition apart from this "injury". Of course, it has got a few bump marks as I've used it at home for more than 10 years, but those are just beauty marks. It may have something to do with the combination of uneven pressure from the trem post and the dry weather in the winter.

Would I have to get a custom body made or does Ibanez offer a replacement in exchange for the old one? (I just wish that was true for my own body

)

Ibanez MAY do a replacement in exchange and lots of cash on your part,It's dependant on your local rep/store

My choice for a NEW body is EKG the banner is up top, fantastic work :-)

Before you do go that route tho,Fire off an E-Mail to Eddie anyway and see what he says about repairing it,you may find it's not the expense you had thought

I'm in Sweden (updated my profile). I know of a good tech here and will have him look at it. I've seen EKG's work and it looks first class so that's definitely a possibility, but I'm rather short on cash right now.
