Creaky nut problem

I'm having this noisy problem up at the nut now. It seems as if the nut itself is making creaky noises when I either bend the neck or use the whammy. Not sure what I should do to fix that as it's glued to the neck/head (I'm pretty sure its glued). Might not be the nut, but the creaking is pretty damn close to that area. Any thoughts?

Edit: I might have misunderstood the naming, its the locking mechanism that makes these sounds. I seem to call that "nut", not sure if thats correct though.

Re: Creaky nut problem

Check that the allen bolts on the back of the neck that hold the nut in are tight.

Don't over-tighten them !!

Re: Creaky nut problem

Those are pretty tight. Could this be because of string friction on the nut?

Re: Creaky nut problem

If its a locking trem they should be tight enough (but not too tight) that the strings don't move - thats the point of the locking trem
