“Crystal JEM” anyone? - acrylic replacement bodies!

Holy smoke... check out this site i just stumbled across!

http://www.crystalguitars.com

US$600 for a custom-made acrylic body. Go for it! Somebody!

Hmm... what kind of translucent paint could Darren use to do a transparent swirl on an acrylic body?

Now that’s interesting!

I have been pondering what wood to use on my custom project. Now there is a new contender in the body material competition.

My luck they don’t make one to accommodate a 7-string neck.

Bob: I suspect that they're probably using a CNC mill of some sort to carve out the bodies from a master template.

I wonder if they could use your UV777 as a template?

Can't hurt to ask them!

A JEM body w/ engraved vines and stuff would be neat. Kinda like engraved glass.

Cool site, but I heard that the acrylic wood joint is inherently more stressed that wood to wood and that the neck tends to fracture. Chack out the Crystal Babes section by the way...pretty nice...um geetars.

I'm already there on this one. I've been thinking about doing something like this for a couple of years even have a spare 7VWH neck to attach to it should I?

Laters

Sorry Darren, it works again now.

Glen, why don't we make it a bulk order for a Jem body and try to get a discount out of it ??

Walter
