Custom neck questions;

Hello!

If i wanted an RG2550E prestige neck with ebony fret board and abalone vine inlay, how would i go about aquiring one?? Jus fancied getting my RG tarted up abit and i found a site for a guy who does ibanez vine inlays
(among a great many other designs) in abalone but don't know in what form he sends the inlay to you or how it would be put onto ebony and then onto an ibanez neck?

Wondered if anyone had experience of this kind of job?

IMO you would be better off getting a custom neck made by someone like legacy one, the risk and hassle of replacing the fretboard yourself isnt worth it and to get someone to do it is probably going to cost just as much, also if you ever want to sell it you can whip the old neck back on.

It's a pain in the butt. You'd be better off either getting a new neck made, or sending your own neck to someone who can install the new board for you.

Re: Custom neck questions;

get a whole new neck made. Most guys charge almost the same to make a new neck as they do to make a fretboard change. From what i've been told it is because most of the cost of a neck or fretboard change is in the labor and not the cost of the wood.
