Darker rosewood?

I've recently cleaned about 10 years worth of grime off the neck of my RG547 and the fretboard looks quite light and dry. i didn't use any solvents or even water just a dry ultra fine scothbrite (prob not even as coarse as 0000 steel wool) is there anything i can use to make it look darker and not so dry?

Re: Darker rosewood?

Fretboard conditioner or lemon oil. You should moisturize your fretboard once or twice a year anyways, and it keeps it looking nice. (note: lemon oil is ok, but I've heard it can eventually loosen fret glue)

Re: Darker rosewood?

Gibson makes some fretboard condition that I've found works a lot better than lemon oil - keeps the board slicker and darker. You can probably find it at your local shop:

I can't believe I'm the first to say bore oil...
Actually I've never used it but I know some people recon it's the best. I think it's intended for woodwind instruments like clarinets and oboes so should be safe. The only thing is don't use too much of anything as I have also heard of wood splitting and other problems!

"Lemon oil" is nothing more than mineral oil with a lemon smell.

This is what I use currently.

Re: Darker rosewood?

One small drop per fret is plenty. Work it in with your finger, and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Then wipe off the excess.
