Dead spot

I just got a new guitar (2001 RG 2550, i'll make a new thread when i take some pics)

It's in very good condition, but there's a dead spot when bending the 15 fret on the high e (not when i hit it, only when i bend it).

Is there anyway to completly solve this? I'm going the to raise the action a bit because it's to low, would this help?

any comments are highly appreciated, because i can still send it back if i want.

Cheers!

Re: Dead spot

raising the action will probably take care of the dead note. if not, it sounds like a raised or high fret.
you can try taking something plastic that won't damage the fret and hammering/tapping the 16TH fret down.
if that doesn't help, then sanding the 16th fret will take care of it, but you have to be real careful. you can go too low then cause more problems.
remember that if you are fretting on fret 15 and thats where the buzz is, it's going to be the 16th fret most likely.
BUT!!!! first make sure your string doesn't have a kink in it at or around the 16th fret.
AND, don't do anything if you plan on sending it back. tapping the fret down shouldn't do any harm though, so give it a try...if raising the action doesnt help.

Re: Dead spot

If you are not experiencing dead fretting anywhere but on the 15th, I'd have to say you have a high 16th fret, and not an action problem. Run a machinist's rule (or any true flat edge)over those frets, and see if it rocks on the 16th.
