Dealing with cosmos hardware and the TRS2

http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/6...5929600361.jpg

I just picked up an S series and it needs some cleaning. Anybody got any advice? Is it a good idea to try and remove all the powder coating so it's just chrome?

Yikes! Am I mistaken, or are the blocks that lock the strings in missing for all of the strings. I've never seen the strings jammed into and locked down in the saddles like that without having the ball ends removed. Borderline tragic. What does the rest of the guitar look like?

I have no idea where they went, the guitars needs some TLC but it's not in terrible condition.

So steel wool is OK to remove all the powder coating? Can I leave it in some sort of solution to de-rust it too?

What's bothering me slightly more is the (finish?) cracks in front of the trem post. I hope they're not allowing the posts to move.
