Dimarzio pickups on my squier?

Hi to you all,

I have a crappy squier bullet. Actually its no that crappy but the tone is very dirty. Next year when im going to Germany im gonna get myself an Ibanez JEM or at least a prestige. But i want to do a litlle upgrade on my squier. Is it possible to put some dimarzio YJM? Is that possible all in all it would be like 300€ wich is pretty good. Would it be worth it? I mean would my tone become cleaner, by clean i mean for example when i play to notes togheter they dont run into each other etc.

Thanks.

Yeah you could upgrade pickups in almost every guitar... Its just are you willing to spend more money on pickups than the acual guitar. I would search for an ibanez or get a better guitar before you upgraded pickups.

Check out gfs pickups at guitarfetish.com if you don't want to spend dimarzio money. So far I've been very impressed by the quality of all the pickups from them that I've tried.
Otherwise the dimarzio's aren't a bad idea.
Also, try some other guitars out and make sure its not a technique issue thats tripping you up.

Re: Dimarzio pickups on my squier?

Thanks for the feedback. I know its not a technique issue, ive been playing for three years and also ive played on a friends washburn x series guitar and it sounds a lot better. ANd its not that it sounds really really bad. Its just that the tone is very dirty no matter what i play a simple or complicated riff or lick.

Anyway im going to consider what you said. The thing is that i live in Colombia and finding a good guitar here in Colombia is really difficult. At least i could get someone to ship me pickups from germany since they dont weigh as much as a guitar.

Anyways thanks.

What about E-bay? You could probably find someone who ships worldwide. Just a thought.

Save the pickup money, sell the Squier, get a good used RG550 or something.

Re: Dimarzio pickups on my squier?

Yeah agreed with Dee. If you want a good sounding guitar, don't even bother with the squier. People on **** ship worldwide all the time. I know there is a rg220 with dimarzios in it and a few upgrades on right now. I think it looks awesome and isn't too expensive,

Re: Dimarzio pickups on my squier?

Dude, if you like the Squier, then by all means, swap the pickups. I bought a brand new Squier, that actually played just as good as the Mexican Fender Strat I owned at the time, dropped a JB Jr. into it, and ended up keeping the Squier, and dumping the Fender. It's actually one of my favorite guitars to play, and it didn't break my bank.

Re: Dimarzio pickups on my squier?

even if you upgrade the pups and make it sound better(might not) you still have a ****ty playability. Get a Jackson or an Ibanez(even the models in the $300 range are a big big leap over a bullet)

Re: Dimarzio pickups on my squier?

How do YOU know? Have you played his guitar? Otherwise, you DON'T know. Yeah, there have been alot of crap guitars by Squier in the past, but you can say that about most companies. Maybe he LIKES his guitar, man. Don't make the dude feel bad about what he owns, just so YOU can feel superior. If he likes his guitar and wants to change the pickups, I say, more power to him. Not all of us are rich little peckerheads, ya know.

Re: Dimarzio pickups on my squier?

^^hehe,

Dont worry, i do like the squier they are nice to play, but i have to get rid of it eventually for other reasons like 21 frets and single coil. My decision is trying to find an acceptable ibanez guitar. See if i like the pickups if i dont i will swap them for others.

Thanks for your feedback. Really apreciate it.
