Dimarzio's - Paf Pro & TZ vs Air Norton & Steve Special

I've recently taken out my Dimarzio Paf Pro and Tone Zone humbuckers. Could someone please tell me how my sound would change if I went to the Air Norton and Steve Special Dimarzio combination.

They would be going in an Ibanez USA Custom. It has a maple figured top with a mahogany body.

If i compare the pu's without looking at the guitar too much i'd say:
In neck position with the Air Norton you would have a bit more output and "bite", but the sound is not toooo different from the PAF.

Hm, i don't know the Steves Special pu THAT good, but I'd say there would be less mids than with the Tone Zone; maybe even a bit less output.

The Steve's special has accentuated treble and bass with "scooped" mids. (think Blaze bridge)

One of my Epi Pauls has a Tone Zone in the bridge and Norton in the neck. I am toying with the idea of changing the TZ for a Steve's Special.

I have the Air Norton in the Neck and the TZ in the Bridge of my RG620. It is a beautiful blend. I was thinking the SS but I could get more sounds from the TZ. I was also toying with the Air Zone to get even more bite out of the neck pick up. That could also be a goer.

Why don't you buy the Air Norton first and put it in? Once you have tried it for a while and you are convinced the TZ and the Air Norton combination is not what you want then try the SS.
